Vino SMOKES his latest Track "Bhad Bhaby"

We had a conversation with Ocala Florida's TCC Vino. After noticing the 30-year old rapper online, and hearing his unique style and delivery, we thought it would be a good idea to ask him a few questions. During our conversation we were able to discover some of the origins of his style, his influences, motivations, and more.

Where are you from? Tell us about where you're from and what cities, neighborhoods, or regions helped shape who we're speaking with today.

"I am from Ocala Florida. A side of the city called the L. (Short for Lillian Bryant Center)."

Origin Story: Can you share your journey as an independent recording artist? How did you get started in the music industry, and what inspired you to pursue a career as a musician?

"I got started by recording on a laptop in a car to pursue my dreams and building my own studio. As of now,
That is where I make my current projects at, and I was inspired by Andrea 3000 all the way through and through"

Creative Process: Walk us through your creative process when producing new music. How do you come up with ideas for songs, and what tools or techniques do you find most helpful in your songwriting and recording?

"I’ll usually go off of an emotion or from a feeling from a prior situation. And then I let the melody drive the rest from there. And I haven’t really written a song in about 10 years. Everything has been from the head."

Artistic Influences: Who are your biggest artistic influences, and how have they shaped your musical style? Are there any specific artists or genres that have had a significant impact on your work?

"My biggest influence is three stacks. OutKast and Big Boy had a lot to do with it as well but mostly southern country Atlanta-style hip-hop is what appeals to me."

Challenges in Independence: Being an independent artist comes with its own set of challenges. Can you share some of the obstacles you've faced in the industry and how you've overcome them?

"Being independent, you run into marketing hiccups, trying to get your music in a realm; that’s tougher for independent artists so to speak, and I would say that most of my obstacles would be songs not doing too well or placements."

DIY Approach: Independent artists often have a hands-on, do-it-yourself approach. What aspects of your music career do you handle independently, and how do you balance the creative and business sides of being an artist?

"I can say, I handle mostly all of my music career independently. From recording to mastering to mixing to marketing."

Favorite Project: Of all the projects you've worked on so far, which one holds a special place in your heart, and why? Can you share any memorable experiences or challenges you encountered during its creation?

"I don’t really have a favorite right now none that totally stands out from any. I just continue to make it for the love of music."

Connection with Audience: How do you connect with your audience, both online and offline? Are there specific strategies or platforms you find most effective in building and maintaining a fan base?

"Most of my connection is online with a social media outlet or interface. I haven’t had any bookings Or interactions that would have me outside interacting with the fans"

Adaptation to Technology: The music industry is constantly evolving with technological advancements. How do you stay updated on industry trends, and how has technology influenced the way you create and share your music?

"I think social media does a good job of keeping most of us up to the trends, whether we really want to know about them or not. So yes, social media has a lot to do with how I stay up-to-date"

Performance Highlights: What have been some of the most memorable moments in your live performances or virtual shows? Any particular show or event that stands out in your mind?

"I’ve only had a couple live performances, and that was during the start of my career. I’m really looking forward to doing more because of those didn’t really give me the satisfaction of an artist that they should have."

Collaborations: Have you collaborated with other artists or musicians, and if so, how have these collaborations enriched your creative process? Is there anyone you dream of working with in the future?

"I have not collaborated with anyone yet. Most of my projects are solo projects I have a couple of partners I’d love to do music with and I think they know who they are. They can just check their email in a couple of weeks."

Message in Your Music: Many artists embed messages or themes in their music. What messages or themes do you try to convey through your songs, and why are they important to you?

"I try to convey hustle and never stop, as well as keeping faith in the Lord, no matter what you do. Take care of your family and never let an outsider in."

Future Plans: What can your fans expect from you in the coming months or years? Are there any exciting projects, collaborations, or goals you are working towards as an independent recording artist?

"Yes, I plan on taking a few more steps forward gaining some steam in my music career, and trying to actually put a run together that can’t be stopped. I have a few video collaborations, and as far as goals, I’m trying to get in a few shows this year and rub shoulders with some who could help my career in the future. No one in particular."
